Let Leo Be Your Inspiration to Live a Creative and Confident Life.

Aug 06, 2024

Leo represents the search for self through creativity and the creative urge and desire to affect the environment and people around you.

Use this season to play. Have some fun experimenting with your talents, express yourself in new ways, build up your confidence and courage. It is through play and experimentation that you come to recognize and hone your voice, perspective and passions.

We entered Leo season on July 22 and will be there until August 22, 2024.

The symbol for Leo is the lion. What do you imagine when you think of a lion? Bold? Loud? Fierce? Not afraid to be seen?

The archetype of Leo can get a bad rap in pop culture for being “too full of themselves.” This phrase doesn’t conjure up a great vibe or someone we typically want to be around.

While Leo can exude some off-putting behaviors (every sign does) there is also the positive expression in which this energy can be used for the greater good. What if we decided to shift our thinking so that we are “so full” of ourselves, our essence, that we can spill over and radiate to help other people?

You become so big, bold, grand, self-confident, and full of love that you become naturally inclined and happy to help others. Leo doesn’t want you to ever dim your own light. Illuminate shadows and support life in others by shining brightly.

Leo rules the chest and upper back. Which includes the heart, cardiovascular system (electromagnetic center, overall vital force) and the spine.

So, it’s no surprise that the Leo archetype exudes a natural inner confidence. It is the sign of the heart and vital force. When strong, Leo will be a steady and enthusiastic spirit with the ability to shine and inspire trust and loyalty. Similar to the Sun (which is Leo’s ruling planet), Leo is a leader archetype and a stable center for others to revolve around.

Filled with confidence and creativity, Leo tends to take pride in appearance. Leo also has a knack for the dramatic and can be a keen performer. Art is life. Life is art.

A valuable lesson from Leo is that pride can easily turn to vanity and attention seeking. Remember that you only need your own approval. It doesn’t need to come from outside sources. Play with your personal style and have fun with it. This is especially important to remember because Leo is also associated with vulnerability of the ego. Criticism and embarrassment can be hard to take. Learning how to work with these in a healthy way can be the ultimate upleveling for the Leo archetype.

So far we’ve talked a lot about how Leo is a focus on self. But Leo is also a fierce lover and protector of others. When a Leo loves you, you’ll know it! This archetype is very open, warm, loving, and generous. Love is important to Leo and they can tend to be very romantic and extravagant.

Like all things in astrology (and life) there is a polarity to this expansive love and when Leo has an enemy, they have a tendency to not hold back. Leo can also be ruthless and willing to go to battle.

To wrap things up, one of my favorite astrological interpretations of Leo comes from Evolutionary Astrologer, Ari Moshe Wolf: “The evolutionary intention of the Leo archetype is for a soul to realize itself as a unique expression of creation.”

Reflecting on this simple idea (that so many of us are blinded to) has an immensely grounding effect. Lean in to what makes you, you.
